Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"It was very crowded. The Thai beef salad was fantastic. The calamari lacked a lot of flavour"
"Fitzroy Island version of fine dining. We had breakfast, lunch, &dinner at least once. Limited in menu, but suffice in variety for our 3 night stay. I’ll mix in all the pics. Eggs Benedict was thoughtfully made. Done to perfection was the with delicate ham. That being said, most dishes needed a bit more flavor perhaps salt. But I do applaud having my choice to add or not. The beef was not to impressing , but okay. My gripe was the gravy that came with it seemed packet flavor’knorr’ tasting. Presentation was beautifully made. We also had seafood noodle dish which was according to an Asian was decent , but really not impressed. She travels to various Asian countries, and noodles are hand made as you dine. Overall, despite the holiday 15% extra charge (boxing week). 115$ plate. It was memorable view and staff was excellent. As always, post wherever your palate takes you."
"Wow, the food here was delicious!! We stayed at the resort and dined here for dinner. Recommended to book a table to dine outside. Beautiful view at sunset. Jacob our waiter was amazing, very attentive and great customer service! Our favourites were the Kangaroo Tartare, the flavours were incredible! Also the dark chocolate & orange Fondant!! Would highly recommend dining here."
"We had dinner here on the 1st of September to celebrate my wife’s birthday and honestly, we don’t get why this restaurant has such a low rating. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. The host was really friendly and set a great tone for the night. The ambience and scenery were perfect, which made the whole evening feel special. Our waitress was helpful and gave us some good recommendations when ordering. The food was excellent. The starters of local bugs/crayfish and scallops were so fresh and tasty, every bite was full of flavour. For mains, we had the local snapper and the beef fillet, both cooked perfectly with flavours that worked really well together. The best part of the evening was dessert. The orange and dark chocolate oozy cake was, according to my wife, the best dessert she has ever had, which made her birthday really special. My strawberry dessert was just as good, with a mix of sweet, tart, and a little richness that hit all the right notes for me. All in, the food was great, the service was just as good, and the atmosphere was spot on. Don’t worry too much about the negative reviews, give it a go for yourself. We had a great night and really enjoyed it."
"My partner and I decided to have dinner here tonight to celebrate my birthday, despite seeing the mixed reviews online (3.6 stars). I honestly don’t understand the low rating because our experience was great! The food was genuinely good and tasty – much better than we expected. What really stood out was the service: the staff were smiling, attentive, and very friendly throughout the evening, making us feel welcome. It’s a shame to see such a low score because they definitely deserve better based on tonight. If you’re on the fence like we were, give it a try. We left very happy. Thank you to the team for a lovely birthday dinner!"
"Dined twice here over a 4 day visit, service was fast, and well as friendly and personalised. Margo in particular was extraordinary in her help and service, going well beyond expectations in regards to some relatively minor variations in serving scallops from one night to the next. We are foodies and quite fussy; yet the restaurant team presented fine, tasty original and fresh meals. No mean feat given the logistics and staffing challenges that an Island Resort has, thanks again all, Kent & Elaine.( Will do a detailed review of the resort, later today)"
"Great view and location for having a meal. We loved hai g breakfast and dinner here. The food was great. Very limited menu and prices are pretty steep but worth the experience. We stayed at the resort so we did both breakfast and dinners for both days. Our first night service was not great but second night we had a great server and it made the whole meal see much better The bugs and lamb cutlet were our favorites."
"I honestly enjoyed everything from this restaurant. From the food, the view and the chef! Everything from this photo is around $98 AUD and it was all worth it. I know the quantity is not much but this restaurant is on the higher end. Bookings are required. So for everybody that wants to dine in, make sure to approach the Receptionist early during the day for bookings for dinner or breakfast the next day, otherwise you will miss out and have to dine in to the other bar. Menu doesn’t have much variety on it but I’m glad that I ordered the right ones! Dinner at 6:30 PM is also beautiful - the view of the sunset is amazing, I don’t mind waiting for my food whilst having a view like this. Also it wasn’t very crowded nor noisy during this time. Kudos to the woman Chef that was just welcoming during our dinner! She was the most accommodating staff in our stay in Fitzroy Island."
